Haiti - an Overview

                     Haiti- a Brief Overview of the Island's history            Haiti lies along the Greater Antilles archipelago and shares borders with the Dominican Republic creating Hispaniola. Prior to the colonization of the country, Haiti was inhabited by the Ciboney and Taino indigenous people. Numerous amounts of conflicts due to territorial disputes resulted in the Taino people removing the greater population of Ciboney out of Haiti. In December of 1492, Christopher Columbus landed in Haiti and established the colony of La Navidad. At first the natives and Columbus had a mutual relationship which shortly disintegrated when the Taino killed the settlers of La Navidad.  However like what happened in the rest of the Americas, "disease brought from Europe such as small pox spread across Haiti(as well as Hispaniola)"(Stinchcombe). Vacation Spot: Cuba

                    Cuba: A Place to Visit     Now first and foremost, the question on your mind is why travel to a country under a communist state in which many citizens flee as refugees to Florida due to poverty? Well throughout this blog I will describe the likes in which you will find Cuba as a nice vacation spot for a week.      Before diving into the culture, architecture, and climate of Cuba, yes you can legally travel to Cuba. I am not sure of the restrictions due to Covid-19 at the moment, however Americans can easily get a visa and travel to Cuba. Even if the U.S. and Cuba are not on the best of terms, and there was a travel ban in 1959, now in 2021 you are able to travel to Cuba legally from airports in Miami, Atlanta, Hawaii, etc. Now before traveling to Cuba, you may want to understand that the country is very different to America and there are some luxuries we have here that are not present in Cuba. My first blog ever

       To start this initial blog about myself, I will remark that I have never blogged previously before entering this class. Therefor this first blog is a sort of test run to see how it works. So to establish this blog and myself to the rest of the class, first and foremost my name is Noah. I am a freshman in college and previously went to Grayson High School. My two strongest subjects in school revolve around science or history. I enjoy reading but I am not the best at writing assignments and essays. My grammar is not necessarily bad yet I hit writer's block often such as I am now. I am a fairly easy going student so expect no trouble from me. To keep it simple I will describe a few interests I have.        Traveling is probably my most entertaining hobby however due to Corona and how costly it can be, I have not had the chance to do any last year.
